The Great Egg Hunt is divided into four chapters that guide you and your child through how to build four increasingly complex treasure hunts. The hunts described in the first chapters should take around 15-20 minutes to build and 10-15 minutes to play. Chapter two provides an outline for a customizeable treasure hunt that can be replayed as often as desired. The more complex hunt in chapter three will take 30-45 minutes to build and 20-30 minutes to play. The final chapter outlines how to completely build your own escape room including changing the theming and story; designing a unique escape room will take hours to build and could potentially become a multi-day project.

Older elementary kids may be able to independently use this guide to build their own treasure hunts and eventually create their own unique escape rooms, while younger kids may need adult help to set up and play even the simpler treasure hunts in chapters one and two.Older elementary kids will be able to follow the directions to build their own treasure hunts and eventually create their own unique escape rooms, but even younger kids will be able to set up and play the simpler treasure hunts with adult help.

You should not need to purchase anything beside the DIY guide to make the treasure hunts. The initial treasure hunt does recommend using plastic Easter eggs, but if you do not have any on hand, paper envelopes will work just as well and in some cases better than plastic Easter eggs. In addition, you will need basic crafting like paper, scissors and markers.
